Premera takes AI mainstream with Microsoft

At Premera, artificial intelligence (AI) isn’t just about novelty or speed just for speed’s sake. It’s about getting better and freeing people up from routine, manual steps so they can focus on work that drives value for our customers.

Operating within the constraints of a highly regulated industry with sensitive data, and with IT and engineering teams at capacity, Premera partnered with Microsoft to implement new tools that made AI mainstream.

Governance and guardrails are non-negotiables when it comes to new technology at Premera. Microsoft 365 Copilot aligned with that requirement by design, giving teams an accessible way to experiment and improve their productivity without introducing risk.

Since launching Copilot Studio, teams at Premera have built more than 900 agents, which are specialized AI-powered assistants that provide support for tasks or offer insights. Examples include an agent that helps employees write more clearly and an agent that reduces contract processing time from 30 minutes down to just 3 minutes.
