Making an impact for Alaska Native nurses and communities
November 21, 2024
Many communities across Alaska face a shortage of healthcare workers, especially those who provide culturally supportive care for Alaska Natives.
With funding from Premera, the University of Alaska Anchorage expanded its Recruitment and Retention of Alaska Natives into Nursing program, furthering its vision to improve the quality of healthcare within Alaskan communities. Supported by mentorships, scholarships, and connections with their peers, graduates of this program are prepared to provide culturally competent nursing care for Alaska’s growing and diverse population.
